Remember that old sitcom with the catchy theme, set in a Boston Pub? A place where everyone knew your name. In fact, every time this certain regular patron entered the bar, he was greeted by name…by everyone in the bar! Sounds nice doesn’t it? A place where everyone knows your name. Well, in Orcutt California, there is an Italian restaurant that not only fits that image, but even strangers are welcomed and get that feeling like they have come back to somewhere familiar. Trattoria Uliveto is that special place and it is run by Chef Alfonso Curti who makes sure that you get that special feeling every time. It’s that certain kind of ambience that makes you feel like you are visiting an old friend, or perhaps stopped by for that delicious home cooked meal.
There are several reasons I feel that this the best Italian Restaurant experience on the Central Coast. Immediately walking in the door, the aroma of fresh bread, Italian spices, and warm atmosphere captures your every sense. It is a welcoming environment with walls filled with family pictures and friendly faces at each table. Chef Alfonso loves to walk around and greet his guests. He always has a warm handshake, hug, and smile. Shortly after being seated, your waiter brings over ice cold water, fresh bread made daily, along with some olive oil and balsamic vinegar to dip. The menu is full of old-time favorites like Spaghetti, Lasagna, and Ravioli. My wife Kori and I love to share an Insalada Mista that has mixed greens tossed with balsamic dressing, tomato walnuts and goat cheese. Her favorite main dish is the Ravioli Di Spinachi, which has homemade ravioli stuffed with spinach, ricotta cheese, parmesan, in a butter sage sauce. If you love seafood, try my favorite Linguini Crostacei with fresh mussels, clams, shrimp, calamari, garlic, olive oil basil, white wine, and tomato filet. Make sure you ask about the daily specials, there is always something fun to try. In fact, ask for the Pork Shank, it is an off-menu item that is amazing.
Trattoria Uliveto has a full bar and a large wine list filled with many local and Italian wines. If you ask Kori and her girlfriends, it is the Strawberry Lemon Drop Martini that they love. It is a must try! For dessert we recommend the Flourless Chocolate Cake and a nice cup of coffee. From start to finish, you will love the memories you make and the food you eat. Locals love this restaurant not only due to the great food and atmosphere, but along with part owners Jim and Mary Spallino, Chef Alfonso has always been great at giving back to the community, local schools, and many non-profits throughout the year. If you are looking for a wonderful dining experience, delicious food, and a place where everyone knows your name, then head to Trattoria Uliveto. Chef Alfonso will be waiting to greet you. In fact, your table is waiting.
